From Mammoths to Marsh: An Epoch Celebration of the Horicon Marsh Story
Saturday, October 11, 10am-3pm.
This fall is for celebrations! The Explorium marks its 10 year opening anniversary and to celebrate there will be FREE admission during this event! It is also the 10 year birthday of both Curly our Woolly Mammoth statue and our grumpy but lovable animal ambassador, Marshall the snapping turtle.
This exciting open house will have something for everyone! We’ll explore the history of the marsh, dive into the wildlife that makes it special and have all sorts of interactive activities for kids and kids at heart! Get up close to some of the DNR’s management equipment like an airboat. Practice tossing a line with our fisheries biologist. Learn about primitive weapons and throw an Atl-Atl or shoot a bow and arrow. Check out historic Horicon Marsh memorabilia related to hunting and trapping including decoys and marsh skis that were once used on the marsh.
New for this event we will have a food truck on location! Come hungry and try out pizzas with “Chef Gus” available throughout the event!
