1-10-22 Update: Parking vouchers for this event are sold out. It is REQUIRED to have a parking voucher to enter the event.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center will only be open for restrooms. A free, timed parking voucher is required to enter the event.
Experience Horicon Marsh at night by hiking by candlelit trails during the 11th annual Horicon Marsh Candlelight Hike on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022 from 5-9p.m.
The Candlelight Hike is sponsored and hosted by the Friends of Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center and Wisconsin DNR. Volunteers and staff will line the trails with candle-powered luminaries to welcome and guide hikers. There are two trails available to enjoy. One trail is 1.5 miles and another “Family Loop” is only .36 miles.
Members of the Horicon Marsh Bird Club will be on the trail conducting short owl talks and calling for owls. You can also learn about Wisconsin’s mammals on the short “Family Loop” trail! You are welcome to bring your own snowshoes if conditions permit. Leashed pets are allowed on the trails, but not in the building.
The Candlelight Hike will look a bit different from years past. For the safety of our volunteers, staff, and visitors the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center will only be open for restrooms. Also new this year, we are requiring a parking voucher for attendees. Vouchers are free and per vehicle that reserve a one-hour arrival time slot. Attendees can arrive anytime during the one-hour window and can stay at the event as long as you’d like. Registration now available at https://horiconmarsh.org/event/candlelight-hike-parking-voucher-required/ or call 920-387-7893.
This is a free, family friendly event thanks to the Friends of Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center and Wisconsin DNR.
