Keeping Wisconsin Birds Healthy

Our talk will be “An Overview of Causes of Wild Bird Mortality in Wisconsin”. What we can do to keep wild birds in Wisconsin healthy by Nancy Businga, Wildlife Disease Specialist
The presentation will provide an overview of some of the common causes of wild bird mortality in Wisconsin’s birds, including an update on the highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak, suggestions for protecting bird’s health and how to report sick or dead birds to the DNR.
Nancy has worked as a wildlife disease specialist for the DNR for the past 18 years, leading wildlife mortality investigations and disease surveillance efforts. Prior to joining the DNR, she was a certified veterinary technician and worked in the health care of captive wildlife at White Oak Conservation Center in Florida and the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo.
