Join the Horicon Marsh Bird Club on Thursday, February 15th, 2024 at 6:30pm in the auditorium at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center on Highway 28 or on Zoom. Our speaker will be Tom Prestby of Audubon Great Lakes will be doing his presentation live at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center.
Tom will be talking about the Audubon Great Lakes bird conservation projects in Wisconsin, and some fun details from the last few years about Piping Plovers and other birds at the Cat Island Restoration Site in Green Bay.
Tom Prestby has been driven by his passion for birds since childhood, which has fueled a career focused on bird research and conservation. Tom researched shorebirds and terns for his thesis at UW-Green Bay, including discovering the first Piping Plovers to successfully breed on Green Bay in 75 years. Prestby was a leader of the recently completed Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas II project and has researched and monitored birds across the state of Wisconsin for about 20 years. He is now the Wisconsin Conservation Manager at Audubon Great Lakes. He lives in Green Bay with his wife, Whitney, 1-year-old son, Ari, and dog, Theo.
