DESCRIPTION:Bird Banding Demonstration \nSaturday\, October 10\, 8-11am. \nLicensed Master Bander\, Jana Gedymin—Research Manager at Riveredge Nature Center—and a team of skilled volunteers  will be joining us at Horicon Marsh as they demonstrate songbird capture and banding techniques. Observers will see how birds are carefully examined during the banding process\, learn why this data is collected\, and get an up-close look at the many species that stop at the marsh during migration. \nThis is a fantastic opportunity to see birds up close and learn more about the fascinating science behind bird banding.  This will be an ongoing demonstration\, so stop on in anytime between 8-11am\, but remember\, the early bird gets the worm! \nThe Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center is located at N7725 Highway 28\, Horicon\, WI.  For more information contact DNR Wildlife Educator\, Liz Herzmann at 920-210-9054 or Elizabeth.herzmann@wisconsin.gov

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, October 10 from 5:00-6:30pm. \nJoin educators an hour before sunset at 5:00pm for an informative talk on the birds you see flying overhead. \nThe location of this event will be the back patio of the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center located at N7725 State Road 28\, Horicon\, WI. \nSandhill cranes\, Canada geese\, great egrets and a variety of ducks are just a few of the amazing migrants that will be flying into the marsh to roost at sunset. \nMembers of the Horicon Marsh Bird Club will also be on hand to answer all your bird migration questions! \nSoups will be available for free but donations will be accepted for the Friends of Horicon Marsh and Horicon Marsh Bird Club. \nAll programs are free and open to the public. Bring a chair and binoculars if you have them as we enjoy a fall evening at the marsh! \nNo registration required.
