SUMMARY:Kids Program: Cranes and Wetlands
DESCRIPTION:Kids Program: Cranes and Wetlands \nThe International Crane Foundation’s\, Stephanie Schmidt\, will provide an interactive and engaging presentation for school-aged children where we will share how to identify the 2 species of cranes in Wisconsin and how cranes are specially adapted for wetlands through their anatomy. In this program we will describe crane adaptations through animal artifacts\, such as a crane leg\, crane egg\, and crane skull. We will also use household items as metaphors to describe how the wetlands cranes depend on act as filters\, flood control\, and nurseries\, and provide food for cranes and people.  Best for grades 3-5. \nStephanie Schmidt is the Whooping Crane Outreach Coordinator for the International Crane Foundation and is tasked with building community support for Whooping Cranes to safeguard their future in Wisconsin.
