This will be an out and back paddle starting from the Nebraska Street Boat Landing in Horicon.  Pre-registration required and $15 fee per person. Free to Friends of Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center Members. Limit of 20 participants. 2-3 mile paddle.  No bathroom facilities. \nMust provide own kayak/canoe\, paddle\, PFD. DESCRIPTION:Evening Prairie Walk: Thursday\, July 30\, 6:30pm-7:30pm \nJoin us for a quiet and enlightening evening walk in the Horicon Marsh prairies during peak bloom.  Your guides will help you learn about plant identification\, the importance of native prairies to the ecosystem\, the role they play in pollinator habitat and the crucial nesting cover they provide for the marsh’s avian residents. You can also learn about establishing your own native prairie in your own backyard\, no matter how big or small an area that you have available.  We will go over soil preparation\, garden establishment and the crucial weed management that follows. DESCRIPTION:Join the Horicon Marsh Bird Club for our upcoming meeting on September 17 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitors Center\, N7725 WI-28\, Horicon\, WI 53032. This month’s program will take us on a journey to the tropical forests and wetlands of Costa Rica\, as Jeff and Suzanne Bahls share highlights from their March 2026 adventure. They traveled with the Wisconsin Natural Resources Foundation and Holbrook Travel on the Rhythms of Nature tour.\n\nTheir itinerary included Tortuguero\, located along Costa Rica’s northern Caribbean coast; Sarapiquí\, a lush lowland region in north-central Costa Rica; La Fortuna Waterfall; and Arenal Volcano National Park. Each destination offered its own unique habitats and opportunities to experience Costa Rica’s incredible diversity of birds and wildlife.\n\nDuring the trip\, Jeff and Suzanne recorded an impressive 127 species of birds\, along with 12 sloths\, including both two-toed and three-toed sloths. They also encountered several other mammals\, including three species of bats.\n\nCome join us as Jeff and Suzanne share their photographs\, stories\, and favorite memories from this unforgettable adventure. SUMMARY:Birding Mayville's Ziegler Park
DESCRIPTION:Birding Mayville’s Ziegler Park: Saturday\, September 19\, 8-10am (Brad and Michael to lead) \nSince “discovering” this 70-acre gem\, it has been a superstar birding location (174 species e-Birded here). Ziegler Park has 72.3 acres of parkland; most of the parkland is mature wooded forest along the east branch of the Rock River with a 1.5-mile nature trail. This Mayville City Park is a great spot for many birds but particularly warblers in the spring.
