DESCRIPTION:Family Friendly Horicon Marsh PaddleSaturday\, July 11\, 20268:00 AM -12:00 PM\n\nOn Saturday\, July 11th\, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM you can join fellow outdoor enthusiasts to paddle through the southern portion of the Horicon Marsh State Wildlife Area. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ wildlife staff will be on hand to help guide your paddle while educating about marsh wildlife as you travel an approximately 3-mile loop through the Horicon Marsh and the Rock River.\n\nThis paddle is great for novice or family paddlers!  The launch and landing is at Nebraska Street Boat Landing (One Mile Island Trail Head). (23611160622000\, Horicon\, WI 53032)\n\nA few key details:\n\n  NO registration needed New route will be approximately 3 miles long. (about 2 hours)Launch times will be from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM only. DNR staff will still be out on the water to guide paddlers and they will come off the water at Noon. No equipment is provided. No shuttle bus will be needed.\n\nThe DNR wildlife staff will briefly cover topics related to the marsh’s wildlife and will be available for any other questions. DESCRIPTION:The World Around Us: Science Labs are biweekly\, open house\, drop-in programs designed for all age participants. All events will be held outdoors except for severe weather. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes/boots designed for walking on gravel trails. What is a decibel? Learn about the anatomy of your ear\, how people measure noise\, what sounds stimulate your learning\, and the sounds that harm your ears. Say\, What! Hearing loss is painless\, progressive\, permanent\, but most importantly\, preventable. Lend your ears to use some cool new apps to listen to and identify bird and frog calls as you stroll through the marsh! \nNo registration is required.  The Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center is located at N7725 Highway 28\, Horicon\, WI. DESCRIPTION:Evening Prairie Walk: Thursday\, July 30\, 6:30pm-7:30pm \nJoin us for a quiet and enlightening evening walk in the Horicon Marsh prairies during peak bloom.  Your guides will help you learn about plant identification\, the importance of native prairies to the ecosystem\, the role they play in pollinator habitat and the crucial nesting cover they provide for the marsh’s avian residents. You can also learn about establishing your own native prairie in your own backyard\, no matter how big or small an area that you have available.  We will go over soil preparation\, garden establishment and the crucial weed management that follows.
